New Delhi: In the middle of a scandal last month, Comedian Samay Raina announced rescheduling the upcoming India tour. The decision followed the considerable public outcry generated by the show, India's Got Latent, including several police complaints and legal investigations.
Insta Stories, on Thursday, informed Raina's fans about the rescheduling. In the notice, he assured ticket holders of a refund soon, "Hello guys, there's a rescheduling of my tour in India. You will all be getting refunds really soon, see you." His message seems intended to assure his fans who had already purchased tickets for the rescheduled shows.
The controversy began when podcaster Ranveer Allahbadia stated an inappropriate comment about parents and sex during the show. This comment went viral on social media, instigating public outrage. In the now-infamous clip, Allahbadia had asked, "Would you rather watch your parents having sex or join them once and end it forever?" The statement triggered several complaints to the police, who began an investigation in Mumbai and Guwahati.
In an unannounced apology, Allahbadia accepted, "Those comments were insensitive and disrespectful." He added that he had been targeted, along with his family, facing threats and harassment at his mother's clinic.
While Samay Raina remains abroad and has not yet engaged with the legal process, investigations are ongoing. India's Got Latent is under scrutiny, and the future remains uncertain for the comedian as the controversy moves forward.
